Why I am against the Obama Health Care Bill…

Since I have been running for the Mississippi 2nd Congressional District, I have been questioned why I am against president Obama’s Healthcare Bill. Not only have I been asked this by some of the people in the district, but also from some of my family members who seem confused about my passionate opposition to this legislation. So to all: this is my reason for my opposition to Obamacare.

But, before I go into my explanation, I personally believe there are parts of our insurance system that need improvement. Those are the issues of pre-existing illnesses, the overall cost of insurance, and the predatory lawyers who file frivolous medical malpractice suits. The first two can be fixed by allowing companies and people to buy insurance across state lines. Currently, there are only a few big medical insurance companies in every state and they have a monopoly. Allowing individuals or companies to shop across state lines will automatically bring down the cost. This occurs from simple free market forces. The last can be fixed by passing tort reform that takes the jackpot mentality out of medical suits. Physicians have to order unnecessary expensive tests that they know are medically unnecessary to protect their practices from these attorneys.

First, we must understand our current health care situation. In America we unquestionably have the best health care in the world. Not only do ordinary people from all over the world come to America for what they believe to be the finest medical care in the world, but foreign leaders come here also to receive the best care in the world.

Currently, there are four categories of people who can get this world-class medical care.

  • The first group, representing the vast majority, are working people and employers who pay for their medical insurance through these private sector employers.
  • The second group are people who get their medical insurance from the government. These include civilian, military, government employees and their dependents, Medicare recipients (who have paid into the system for 40 plus years) and Medicaid individuals; who are poor and are not working and cannot afford to pay for medical insurance.
  • The third group are individual citizens who buy individual medical insurance for themselves.
  • The fourth group are the people who do not have insurance but go to the hospitals and are treated without regards to their ability to pay for these services. (This group also includes young people who are not working. Most of these young people don’t feel they need insurance until they get sick. Also included in this group are the unemployed who have exhausted their COBRA insurance from their previous employer.  This group includes the homeless who refuse to sign up for Medicaid and illegal aliens who are not eligible for Medicaid.)

So the question is about the fourth group. In this group the vast majority are young people who don’t think they need insurance and would rather go to Cancun on vacation or buy four thousand dollars worth of automobile fancy rims or audio systems for their cars, than to buy medical insurance. Also in this group are millions of illegal aliens who should not be here in the first place. Unemployed people who have exhausted their COBRA insurance move in and out of this group. As soon as they get another job they get insurance from the new employer and move into the first group.

So let us be clear on this, in America we do not throw sick or injured people out into the streets because they don’t have medical insurance. In America we give the best medical care to anyone who shows up at our hospitals and many of our doctor offices. In the last couple of years I have personally been in many hospitals and doctor’s offices. I have personally talked to physicians who have told me they treat any person that comes to them for treatment regardless of that person’s ability to pay them. I have been told by many physicians that this is just part of their practice.

The Obamacare health bill is about control. It is about how the progressive liberal socialists democrats can control 18% percent of the economy. The main objective is not to provide better care or lower costs to our citizens but to control our citizens. If they can control your health care then they tell you first, if you are fit for treatment, and when and what kind of healthcare the government will give you and your family.

There is nothing new here.  Democrats have always believed they are the elite of the world and the rest of us need to obey them. From slavery to segregation, whipping, lynching to the abortionist, they believe they can throw a few crumbs from their tables and control the unwashed masses. Let us not forget that nowhere in the world is there a better place to live. That is why we have 30 million illegal people in the country.

Never forget, America is the land of opportunity.
